Big Bristol Abseil 2024- Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
Dawn Harvey
My Story
Hi everyone ☺️
In less than 5 days time, on the 27th at 11am, I will be abseiling 100ft down Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, although the main part of the total raised will be towards a fund for the 10 hospitals in our region, the money raised through my abseil will be go towards the Snowdrop appeal.
The Snowdrop Appeal is a project to transform eight hospital spaces for families experiencing devastating pregnancy and baby loss. The project aims to improve the experience for families who have suffered a pregnancy loss either on the Delivery Suite or the Gynaecology Ward. This refurbishment will enable families to have a private, bright, and peaceful space to absorb bad news, make decisions, and spend time with their baby prior to saying goodbye and the Delivery Suite in particular will be sound-proofed given the proximity to hearing those in labour, and artwork will be installed and a Bluetooth radio facility will be installed.
This appeal holds a special place in my heart because when I miscarried my first child, there wasn't a separate room or space available to help me or a younger lady who'd lost her baby - we were admitted to the day ward where other parents had already completed their families.
I appreciate times are hard right now but please donate what you can ❤️
For what it's worth, I'm not keen on heights 😬
